01

CONSULTATION

The design process begins with a site visit and an initial consultation. During this time, the primary goal is to fully understand your aspirations and needs for the garden while assessing the existing space. Following this meeting, you will receive a written brief detailing the fee structure, design process, and a comprehensive summary of your goals for the space.

02

CONCEPT DESIGN

The next step involves a topographical survey of the site, capturing its layout, levels, and utilities.
Based on this survey, we create concept designs in both 2D and 3D formats. To support these concepts, we also produce mood boards. At this stage, the emphasis is on the overall layout rather than specific details.

03

DEVELOPED DESIGN

Once the concept design is approved, we develop it into a comprehensive master plan. This includes material palettes, spatial arrangements, and planting locations, along with a proposed planting palette that outlines the general character of the garden. We also enhance the 3D imagery to provide a realistic sense of the space.

04

TECHNICAL DESIGN

Once the master plan is approved, we create technical drawings. These include setting out plans, lighting locations, level plans, and cross-sections, along with any necessary details.

05

PLANTING DESIGN

The planting plan details the locations of all proposed plants and includes a plant schedule with exact names, sizes, and quantities for costing, ordering, and setting out. A mood board of all plants is provided to give you a sense of the desired look.

06

TENDER DOCUMENTS + SITE INSPECTIONS

The tender package is then assembled and sent to contractors for quotes. We collaborate with a range of trusted contractors who can bring the designs to life, or you are welcome to choose your own contractor.
Once construction begins, i offer the option of regular site visits to monitor progress, address changes, and ensure the project is built according to the plans.
David will personally set out the plants once the build is complete.
